Special Testing Options

Occasionally, some of our clients need special paternity testing options for their unique situations. Clients might need to determine paternity as soon as possible—even before the child is born. In other cases, the father is missing or deceased and cannot be tested. Patients might also prefer to collect their own samples if they only need the test for personal knowledge and not for any legal purposes.

The following special paternity testing options are available to meet our clients’ different testing needs:

Prenatal Testing. Those who wish to establish paternity or other biological relationships before a child is born may choose to have prenatal samples collected by an OB-GYN.

Viability Test. When the alleged father is missing or deceased, we may be able to use another biological source, such as preserved remains from the coroner’s office.

Self-Collection. Self-collection (also known as in-home collection) is for those who would like to take a DNA test to answer family questions but who do not require a legally admissible document. Tested parties can collect their own samples at their convenience.
